This is one of two 15 light, 36 inch
doors. I am unable to purchase a French door at any store to fit. This
is because the builder of this home made the
rough opening exactly 72x80-1/2 inches for a sliding patio door. The standard 6 foot rough opening is
74x82 inches.
Fig. 2
Both doors are cut to the proper size. I aligned them
up to make sure the spacing is
right.
Fig. 3
I have mortised the hinges in both doors
and jambs. I have to leave the french door in 3 parts
in order to get it through the doors in the
house.
Fig. 4
Once I moved
the doors to the room I marked off the center
of the rough opening and put determination to work. Here
I have everything but the trim
done.
Fig. 5
The trim is
on, the nail holes are filled and the doors have 2 coats
of primer on them. I like the fact that the glass is covered
with plastic before the door is assembled. This makes it easier to paint. I will
cut the plastic off when I am
done.

The final picture of the french
door. I reinstalled the door knobs and removed the protective painter's plastic off the glass.
This room is finally done and my customers loves the
work.
